Do you have it?

Do you have what it takes to be who you want to be? To be the person you have always imagined? I know we all have this fantastic idea of how we want our lives to be. If you are as detailed as I am, you even know the shade of your skin a few years from now.

We all imagine and fantasize about who or where we want to be. It gives us hope, a sense of purpose, that we have something to work for. But we all seem to forget one very important part: “YOU”. You play the biggest role in how your life turns out, and just fantasizing about it will not change anything, sadly…

I have read a lot of books about how powerful your mind is, but it still does not help me to stop underestimating it. I know you might have also read about it and even believe it. The question is: What changed? Your mind is powerful, yes, but are you powerful? Have you harnessed the strength of your mind into your person, into the little quirks that define you?

That leads me to today’s question: Do you have what it takes? It is not enough to just know. Almost everyone knows something about everything these days. The real question is: Does what you know make you any different? Or is it just for the sake of conversations and Twitter bants…

We all want to live out our dreams. That vivid picture you took your time to paint in your mind should come to fruition. But if we really want to, we need to become the person in that picture. You need to cultivate the mindset and personality of the person in the picture. It sounds simple, but waking up at 5 am every day to work out for that body you want is not funny.

It has to come from within. You have to first believe that you are, and then discipline yourself to be. Discipline, that is what “it” is. That is what it takes for that dream of yours.

I know you want to make a fashion statement each time you step out of your house, but you don’t even know how many shades of blue there are. And that shirt has been hanging on your door for far too long. Hang it properly, thank you.

I would like to trust that you believe what I am saying. I don’t just want to write, and I do not just want you to read, I want you to understand. And I might not be Gandhi or Jesus Christ (you do not have to take me that seriously). I want to know that you at least hear me, and you are willing to go the extra mile for yourself.

So let me know what you think in the comments below, and share with someone. Be nice.

A little throwback, but still valid.
