One of the biggest lies we tell ourselves is that all our actions are justified. Based on our analysis of every situation, we believe we have a valid reason to justify our actions regardless of whether they’re right or not. This is because of how unique our experiences are; we see the world through the filter of our reality and adjust all occurrences to fit our reasons.
There comes a time when we need to realize our filter can be tainted; it doesn’t matter how pure your intentions are or how much of a good person you are. Your rules apply only to you, and that’s it. We judge and project onto others because we think our ways are the rules everyone should live by, just because we do.
But all your values, principles, or rules apply only to you. They are an abstract fence around your mind that helps you make living bearable. It is limited to your reality and your story and has nothing to do with anyone else. It is because we think otherwise that we get hurt and disappointed by others.
We expect from them what we expect from ourselves, and they do the same. That’s why dramas are a huge movie genre. These expectations collide and breed conflict, which in my opinion makes living fun. If everyone in the world were exactly like you, I don’t think your bubbly personality would make it any less boring.

So, the time has come to let go of any expectations you have of people. Regardless of who they are and what purpose they serve in your life. The best way to get things done is by doing it yourself, not tying responsibilities to anyone. Even if they’re okay with taking a burden for you, chances are that it’s tied to a reward they might get from it.
Don’t give other people that much power over you. Understand that only you play by your rules and only task yourself with responsibilities that shape your life.
