You know how things happen to you, and you believe it’s the worst that could ever happen? Yeah, that’s just your brain trying to make sense of the situation. It’s not the worst that could happen, but just one possible outcome over varying probabilities. So, brace yourself, my friend. The only literal worst is when you can no longer get up daily.
Before then, you’ll think every new challenge is the worst. But that’s what you thought the last time, and guess what? You still got through it somehow. At some point, you’ll have to give yourself some credit and look beyond the situations you find yourself in. You are so focused on overcoming the present struggle that you disregard your evolution.
For example, I have never liked school and don’t think I ever will. I have always done it as an obligation. But I understood the outcome of the process and somehow was fair at it. Because of that process, I can speak two languages, read the books I love, and write to you weekly. I can walk around with the knowledge of essential addition and the number of continents we have.
Did I enjoy school? No, but am I educated because of it? Yes. So, it’s not always all bad; each time you go through something, you can be someone better because of it. If you hadn’t touched a hot stove as a kid, you wouldn’t avoid it now. That’s basically what life is to me: an endless cycle of learning, relearning, and unlearning.

Sometimes, experiences repeat themselves until you learn; other times, they are a completely new terrain. Life seasons you and it’s not done as long as you’re here. You might be in a situation you have never been in before, and everything you know just doesn’t seem to work. You’re not alone; the older you get, the more of these you’ll see. But first, you need to get out of the victim mindset, which, to be honest, I’ve been stuck in for more than a week now.
Things don’t happen to you; they happen for you. Read that again. No one is out to get you, neither are the odds stacked against you. It’s simply a challenging learning process that won’t end until you learn. If you don’t deal with and learn from it, you’ll be stuck repeating the problem with different names until you do. You’ll never fully see what you’re capable of or discover how weird you look when you cry.
One thing that fascinates me about life is how it keeps you occupied, always on your tippy toes, fighting for something to improve. Like, how is it so consistent? Or rather, how are you so resilient? It’s been you fighting and standing strong all this time. Can we call a truce? I know you want to rest, but your opponent isn’t tired, so please take a break, but don’t stop going.
