You are doing a fantastic job in life. It may have been a while since you heard that, and I wanted to tell myself this, too. It’s hard to notice because you cannot see yourself from the outside, but I’m here to remind you. If we are being honest, you have changed so much that it’s almost impossible not to see that you are better and more in charge than you have ever been.
We can all keep going and chasing dreams without considering where we are coming from, but the only thing we are rushing towards is death. Why not stall that a little if you could by reflecting and living intentionally? I want you to pause and see how well you’ve done. Not by anyone’s standards but simply by who you used to be.
I know you still feel lost, and sometimes you have no idea what you’re doing, but that’s the point; no one does. We all pretend we have it all together, but you know it’s not true; it’s just an easier way to cope. The pressure of figuring it out has shrunk life into something only meant to be lived and not enjoyed, so you rob your present and future selves by over-analyzing your outcomes. You nitpick even the tiniest details and self-sabotage for not being there yet.
In a real sense, there is no way you can know what you’ll be doing in five years. You can make a rough guess based on your current life, but that’s about it. It’s just a guess; you don’t and will never know. It might be bad advice to say this, but you are not meant to figure it all out before you even get there. If you could, is that where it ends?
You know it’s not; you move on to the next goal after reaching one. So, it’s a pattern of creating the life you want rather than experiencing the one you need. There’s no harm in dreaming or setting goals and smashing them, but reducing your life to just that is dangerous. If you had the power to predict the future, which you don’t, I don’t think you would want to be here much longer.

Imagine a recording of the next 50 years of your life being played before you. You’ll know everything you were meant to discover, and there’s not much to do after that. But the good news is, there’s no such recording! You are supposed to figure it out as you go, not in advance. Read that again.
The things you are passionate about today may change in a few years; what happens to the future you imagined based on those things? It becomes lifeless, and you’re lost again when you eventually get there. I’m not saying to live recklessly, or maybe I am.
But here’s my point: if everything happens exactly how you want it to, you lose the essence of being alive. There’s no longer fun in living but a hopeless cycle of knowing what comes next. Mystery is the thrill, my friend; it’s why you work so hard to be better. Not just for the money but so you can build a character and mindset fluid enough to change and take on a challenge at any time.
