Stubborn or fickle?

A person’s will is impressive; it’s about the most flexible abstract thing I know. If you decide to do something, you will do it or do something else while justifying why you did not. The speed at which you change your mind is truly spectacular. You decide to start exercising tomorrow, but it’s a rainy morning the next day and the best sleep you have ever had, so you move your decision again.

You see that seamless transaction; you are so good at it that you don’t even think it’s a decision anymore. That is what I mean by abstract flexibility. You cannot just decide that you will swap your left arm with your right leg, and it will be so tomorrow, or wake up in your dream home next weekend, and it happens. These particular and physical things cannot easily be altered, but something drives them.

Your will. The one you quickly change without enough thought, if any, is what moves the physical. You’re alive because your inner being is, and your physical body is just a protective cover for your purest self. This is why people who go lengths to satisfy an ever-wanting body but starve their soul surprise me.

Back to flexibility: there is no harm in being able to change your mind. In fact, the easier it is for you to change your mind, the faster you can adapt to situations. A rigid person will break easily in circumstances they cannot ride through. But there is a fine line between stubbornness and being fickle.

About 90% of people around me say I am stubborn. It should be 100%, but I will reserve the 10% for myself because I get to have an opinion on that too. Anyway, I cannot accept it, and someone told me that my inability to agree with popular opinion is essentially why they say I’m stubborn. Well, that’s understandable, and I will spare you the arguments but give you one reason: life is not always in black and white; sometimes, it’s gray or light ash.

Stubbornness means you only see things in black or white, while being fickle allows for every variation of the rainbow. Sometimes you need to be stubborn to the point that people will refer to you as obstinate; other times, a little color pop in your life is not a bad idea. But what have you done? You have turned into a color mixer, ‘Agba blender.’ You have taken blue, black, orange, lemon, peach, or white and mixed them into a life of calling your own shots.

I’ll be honest; the color is terrible. It doesn’t even have a name; an artist will have trouble painting with it because the message is too jumbled to mean anything. Let me make it easy for you: you should never compromise on your integrity, dreams, family, love, health, values, or passion. Depending on your priorities, you can add or subtract as you like. Regardless of popular opinion, it should be black or white because they determine if you will be waking up in your ‘vivid imagination’ or not. On others, even a masquerade is a form of art.

So, please, paint accordingly. You are not an artist, but at least you know colors.

Nice intro from the beginning, to how you sacarstically introduce yourself “coconut head” 😄 ( some times i can be a coconut head person too esp when some one tries to tell me something i know ) to how you delve into philosophy and kinetic to colours and how you added the youthful trendy nigeria slang “Agba baller”. ….. “perfect and brilliant “. 10/10 Great Article , nice one keep it up. 👍

You might be surprised that the combination of those colors might bring out a beautiful, unique and odd color. Paint regardless.

I agree but some colors just don’t align, and it’s okay. We’ll keep painting.
