Hello there, itâs been a while. I apologize for my inconsistency and I have excuses, but thinking about it now, I realize they might be invalid. I write about what happens in my life. Some days thereâs nothing worthwhile to tell you and others I could write an entire novel from it.
I guess that excuse makes a little sense. Today, Iâll be telling you something personal. Iâm doing that often these days and I really donât know why, but Iâll tell you when I figure it out.
Peer pressure, thatâs what I want to tell you about and I wonât bother you with what it means because itâs not an alien term but I want you to be weary of people who do not feel peer pressure or who claim not to.
They might have given up on themselves, or theyâre lying. Peer pressure is not necessarily evil, as some of us might think. It depends on the context in which you think about it. Itâs like an unseen force pushing you to live up to par with your peers and as long as the earth rotates round the sun, thereâs never an end to it.
The only other thing that could put an end to it is if everyone was no longer unique in their own way, if we all face the same problems and deal with the same challenges. Whereâs the fun in that?
As long as humans exist, there will be standards. If not, whatâs the point when weâre all going to die, anyway? To make living worthwhile, we set standards that measure the quality of our lives. Hereâs what Iâm saying: if cars were to only move us from point A to B, whatâs the point of having a Mercedes, Porsche or Lamborghini?
If phones were to stay connected, why do I have to spend more on an apple product if there are options that do almost the same thing? If everyone could afford a visit to Santorini every weekend, whatâs the hype about?
Standards. Thatâs what it is. We need to grow, to move, and to do that, we need to put things in place that show that we are. Thatâs why when you want to buy something new, you look for a better version of what you had.
Therefore, peer pressure will always be something you and I have to deal with at every stage of our lives. Because the only other thing you know outside your story are the standards set by the world.

So, when you see your peer who owns a car, is happily married, has kids, perfect skin, runs a successful business, follows their passion and hits it big, vacations every other day or looks like they have life figured out, you get the funny feeling (peer pressure)
You ask yourself questions like, what am I doing with my life? Or God when? Or am I a stick? đ
Itâs totally okay to get the funny feeling. You just have to be careful about the choices they lead you to make. Because you never truly know someone elseâs story and what youâre seeing is just a specific part of their life (standards), not the entirety of it.
I said I was going to share something personal with you. Maybe itâll help you understand how different we are and that what really matters is your story and what you make of it. Hereâs a list of people that make me feel peer pressure.
Soldiers – Iâm trying so hard to fight my battles, it takes all of my time and resources and then thereâs someone who looks past themselves and chooses to fight for their country or a just causeđČ That is awesomeđ”âđ«
Women who have their kids before 30 – Maybe this is clichĂ©, but I really want an impressive body, even when Iâm older. As a woman, one of your best bets is to have your kids early, so yeah, that too.
People who drive trucks – I love trucks, I donât understand why people drive cars when theyâre trucks. It hurts me specially to see people own or drive them when I donât. Who gave them the right?đ„ș
People who live in movable trucks – I like mysterious vibes, to get that you canât live in the same place for too long. A few months and youâre off to a new location. I love the freedom it gives, the thrill of travel and the novelty of new places. Some people have all that and I donât đ„ș
People that have flawless skin – Mtchew, is that all there is to life? Flawless skin wonât put food in your mouth ohđ Itâs not that importantđ„șOkay, just give me one tipđ, how about half? A quarter? Urrrgggggh!
Writers/Authors – Thatâs a given, right? Iâll get there, eventually.
So yeah, thatâs me, but I wonât make the wrong choices because I donât have these things now, neither should you. Take your time because in a few more years, theyâll look a lot more different.
Thank you for reading throughâșïž See you soon!đ„°
