Do you ever wonder how your life would have been if you made certain choices or followed through a different path?

Do you think you would enjoy it better or would it be worse than it is right now?

How about if life had dealt you a distinct set of cards, say you were born in some other country or a different race?

Do you think you’ll still be you or be where you are right now?

For me, I have never stopped wondering. I have written so many variations to my story that I have lost count. So, I asked myself, to what end?

All my fantasizing and wishing still have not changed my situation. I am still very much Nigerian.

Life was already leading one to nil with the point that you cannot choose the circumstances of your birth.

Your parents, country, culture and even your name were not your choice. I’m sure if we could pick, a lot of things would have been different in our lives.

But what is the point of scoring own goals against yourself when you don’t make the right decisions? Agreed, your environment was not your decision, the rest of your life can be different.

And you can wish and fantasize all you want but you only have one life, this one you’re experiencing at the moment. So, make peace with the choices you had no control over and also the bad choices you made.

Work on making the best out of your choices now. That’s how you get even with life.

Quit wondering about all the probabilities of your existence. There’s no such thing as a life that’s better than yours. This is your story, love it.
