Set your house in perfect order before you criticize the world.

It sounds simple, just focusing on yourself, but it turns out to be an enormous task. Looking inwardly takes the attention from something or someone else and shines the spotlight on us. It’s easy to point out the speck in someone’s eyes while there’s a wood in yours.

There’s something I always find hilarious. It’s the idea of self love being peddled around as physical care, gluttony, entitlement and selfishness.

That isn’t self love, that’s sabotaging yourself. All these things don’t make you love yourself, they lead to resentment. Being someone who has to get their hair done before feeling beautiful is abnormal. It’s treating yourself like a commodity where your happiness depends on a transaction.

Instead of the self sabotaging love, why not try focusing on ourselves. Why do I have to judge and criticize or discipline myself when I have a country and its horrible government? When there’s other people to judge? Why do I have to look inwardly when all these outward occurrences are there to complain about?

Here’s why; because all your opinions about how the world should be will change nothing until you practice self righteousness.

You wish people will be nicer and take time to consider how their actions affect others. They don’t harm each other but treat everyone with love and fairness and maybe all your other ideas of how a perfect world looks like.

Do you practice all these things?

Do your lead or judge yourself well enough to criticize others?

If you focus on you long enough, you’ll notice you’re a snub to innocent people on your bad days. You’ll see you’re sometimes rude to the customer service personnel because of how much you paid for a product or service.

You’ll also see that you’re not a cheerful person who always treats people with love. You’ll see that you aren’t perfect, so how can you expect the world to be?

Perhaps you will then see that if all people did this, in their own lives, the world might stop being an evil place. After that, with continued effort, perhaps it could even stop being a tragic place. Who knows what existence might be like if we all decided to strive for the best? Who knows what eternal heavens might be established by our spirits, purified by truth, aiming skyward, right here on the fallen Earth?
Set your house in perfect order before you criticize the world.
