Posture; it tells the world who you are and how they should treat you. You might not think much of it, but you know at least one person who walks into the room and you can feel their power. Everyone is at attention and basking in their aura because of their personality.
We are species who want to always prove their worth and show value, as it is impossible to go through life without social interaction. It’s instinct to want dominance over the next person. Like it or not, there is someone you think or know you are better than and what a pleasure it will be to prove it.
This is why we all walk around with an invisible placard saying RESPECT ME, all conflicts stem from disrespect, but for some, the placard reads PITY ME.
For these people, their posture tell they are prey, not predator. There is not one advantage to being looked down on, it’s not humility, it’s a cupcake of cowardice and fear with toppings of entitlement.
You think the world owes you pity because of your past; it scares you to face the world head on, to show your worth and prove your value. Your possibilities scare you, so you live as prey.
You carry around pain, fear, guilt, hate, and resentment. Your shoulders can only take so much, so they give in and slump. Your brows furrow. You look down when you walk to hide the pain in your eyes.
That is a sorry way to live. And asides dealing with life’s problems, you still have to cope with bullying and being a pushover.
No, you are more than your pain, and your body language does not have to show your suffering, because you need to dominate and not the other way round.
Here are tips that will help;
1.Dump the guilt and forgive yourself
2.Be yourself, don’t pretend to be who you are not
3.Live your truth, strut your stuff
“So, attend carefully to your posture. Quit drooping and hunching around. Speak your mind. Put your desires forward, as if you had the right to them – at least the same right as others. Walk tall and gaze forthrightly ahead. Dare to be dangerous.” – Jordan Peterson
