Potentially great

I was sure nothing had the mental power to deter me from writing to you weekly. It’s easy, I enjoy writing, and it brings order to the rumble every week. But I was wrong. Writing is a hobby, and on a deeper level we can add passion. In the last few weeks, I have realized that some things have more hold on you than your hobby or passion.

No matter how passionate you are about your dreams, survival comes first. Hobbies or self actualization are on a higher level of the needs hierarchy, and you get burnt out because you are stretching on shaky foundations. Not that it is wrong, neither am I stopping you from pursuing your goals, but I can relate to how tiring it is, and that’s what I’m focusing on right now.

If you’re in your twenties, there is this constant rift of feeling you have time or running out of it. There’s usually almost no middle ground, mainly if your standards hinge on everything and everyone else but you. So, you want to survive, but you also know you can do more than just being alive.

But what happens when you become stuck in this survival mode? Not because you’re not working hard enough, but inflation seems to run faster than you. Hobbies? Dreams? They can wait; you need to eat first. Then have a rest day to enjoy the money you work for.

Maybe you can put aside a few hours for what you want. But you don’t do what you want; you either sleep or worry about how you’ll survive. And even if you work on what you want, you start to doubt if it matters or makes any difference. It does because little drops of water make the ocean.

The key is not being hard on yourself because the harder you push, the more strength you lose. What used to be fun for you now becomes work, and you keep running to avoid it. It’s okay if the only thing you can do right now is survive. It’s alright if you no longer find the inspiration to be creative or the passion to pursue your dreams.

The same you who’s surviving this ever-changing dynamics is more than capable of creating the life you want. Look at this as character development, not that it is the best you can do but the only thing you can do right now. Situations can take everything else, but don’t let it rob you of your potential.

You are not made for survival only; it doesn’t matter how long it’ll take you to get to where you want. If you’re reading this, you haven’t run out of chances yet.
