The 1% Chance

Hola! It’s been a minute. I trust you have been good. I ruined our streak. I apologize. Let’s focus on the fact that we are back again. A lot has happened and is still unfolding during our short break; I’ll let you in on it slowly. What’s life without its mystery? I saw something on the internet that stuck about how hope keeps us alive. You’re not sure what will happen tomorrow, but you hope to be here and make plans.

You want a better future, so you make your present count, even if it’s not in your control. You don’t know, so you hope; your faith keeps you going, even if you choose not to acknowledge it. That’s why the most expensive thing you own is not the things you can see or even your life; rather, it’s hope. It’s what keeps you going every day.

Have you ever lost your faith in something or someone? I bet it came with an empty feeling, almost purposeless, and you quickly had to replace it. As much as life is about the moments, what makes it worth it is what you look forward to. You’re working hard to give your kids a better life than you had or to prove you were worth the investment.

Whatever your reason is, it wouldn’t make sense if there wasn’t one. If, in the end, all your dreams were just dreams, why do you bother? Even if it does not work, there is a chance it might. That chance, that tiny 1%, keeps you and me going. You may say hope is useless, and what matters is the work you put in now. What’s the point of sowing if you don’t think you will reap?

Faith isn’t something only religious people do; it makes us all human. What separates us is what we tie our faith to. It’s not that we are faithless; it’s that we have taken our faith for granted and built a false sense of control over what is extraordinary.

We have trusted everything and everyone else but ourselves. Each time that fails, which is inevitable, we lose a little faith. The cycle goes on, and eventually, we become too tired to hope, to keep our faith unwavering, and to put in the work for the life we want. You think it’s just a probability and don’t know when or if it’ll pay off. You’re not alone.

It’s okay to doubt or waver; sometimes it feels like the chances are slimmer, and hoping is scary. When you feel that way, remind yourself that you’re still alive. If you weren’t, you wouldn’t need hope. But you are, which means it is not over yet, and that’s all the faith you need, even if it’s one percent.

Song of the moment – Worms – by Ashnikko.

I hope your week is beautiful, and happy holidays!🥳

I traveled back in time, so I’m a few hours behind. We might have to switch between Sundays and Mondays until we fall back into a routine. Bear with me.
