Too late

If there’s one thing that nobody likes, it’s anyone wasting their time. It’s too rigid a concept to allow for such a thing as delay. We all get twenty-four hours. Why do I have to spend mine waiting for you? It’s understandable if you think about it. No one can control the tick of the clock, but you definitely can choose how you spend your tick.

That being said, I believe we are all waiting for something. At every point in your life, you will have an expectation that depends on time and your efforts. Like preparing a meal, the result of an exam, would she say yes or no? So many things to wait for, but very little time to spare.

However, you would agree with me that there are many things you have wasted your time on. This isn’t dependent on anyone or anything, but you of your own volition have done things you now consider a waste of time. How sweet it will be to get back precious time, right? Sadly, it’s never coming back, izzzzzz gone.

But I want you to look at it from this angle. You never wasted time because you don’t own it. You merely experienced something you have no place for in your story. It’s like going to school to be an engineer, only to end up as an artist. Does that mean your years of learning went to waste?

I think not. Everything you have ever experienced has prepared you for right now. Not that some experiences are unavoidable, but if you had to go through it, there must be a pretty good reason. Not only that, it’s either you needed or will need the experience. Never wasting knowledge is not just bants. Would you put your hand on a hot stove now? I guess not. But you might get in a relationship with someone while ignoring all the red flags. Why? Because you have coconut head, just like a child. If you don’t eat breakfast, you won’t learn.

I digress. This isn’t about stoves or breakfast or maybe food, if you thought that’s where we’re going. It’s about the buildup, how every drop of water counts in the ocean, how every step counts as a step taken even if it’s in the wrong direction.

Every hurt, pain, lesson, laugh, sacrifice, challenge, relationship or choice made you, you, as little as it might be. Everything you have ever learnt is why you’re here today. It didn’t happen for nothing, neither was it a waste. I know you would rather forget or even preferred it did not happen. But it did and did you die? No, you’re still here. That counts quite a lot because not everyone got the chance.

It’s time you take a deeper look into everything that has ever happened to you and the direction your life is taking. All your choices came down to this very moment. You did not waste it; you lived through it. If you don’t like it, it’s never too late to shift course, but it’s already been to live in regret.

Do have an amazing week and here’s this jam from Burna boy to get you through it – Sittin’ on top of the world
