Epiphany

Word – Epiphany

Meaning – a moment of sudden and great revelation or realization.

Sometimes you find yourself in situations that explain why things are a particular way, prior to that moment you did not understand. It could be fun to figure it out. There are multiple reasons a person is the way they are. But get this: your speculations are usually wrong, and until you have an epiphany, they will only remain as that.

You and I assume we are good people because we do fairly well based on our standards. Here’s why that is flawed. If everyone is a saint, how come you can mention at least three villains in your story?

These villains are also saints in their books, so how do we judge this? First, relinquish your idea of you being good. Your standard is not universal, so it doesn’t apply. Second, wait for moments of realization before you judge a situation and finally, understand that no one is perfect, including you.

A saint on Sunday could be the worst devil on Monday. They do not cancel out each other but are in constant war with each other. The side you encounter depends on who won the battle that day. So, back to my epiphany, I have realized it is a waste of time to decipher why people are the way they are.

This is not to discredit actual studies of human behavior, no, we all need the basic knowledge. It’s on a more personal level, for the people you let into your life. When they hurt you or do things you do not approve of, you usually try to figure out why.

Because they are your people, you believe there must be why it happened. That’s understandable because it does not apply to people you don’t know or care about. You simply cannot let everyone in your life go because they wronged you. No one will be on your side that way.

But that is beside the point. What if there is no logical explanation? Or that’s a part of who they are and were just being themselves? How about if the villain won that day and they didn’t consider it wrong by their own standards? What if they have changed?

All these probabilities are possible, yet even none might be true. They could just have had a bad day, or not. This is what I meant by a complete waste of time. You will never know until you do. Either they tell you or you come to an epiphany. That’s why malice is such a waste of energy, the both of you in your zones figuring out the whys instead of talking about it.

Here’s your take-home for today. Wait for your epiphany, or ask for it. It saves you from being a fake investigator, looking for clues where there are none. I mean, how do you live in the moment if you’re always wondering why?

I hope you have the easiest week 🥰
