Close your eyes, and imagine a world where only you and your favorite people exist. Not only that, consider you have everything you need and want. Amazing right? Now, how long do you think that world will last? How long will it take you to seek fresh adventures, people, or things?
Give or take a few weeks, right? It got me wondering if you have everything you want, why do you get bored with it? Why are you programmed to never experience complete satisfaction?

Now get this: once you’re satisfied, it’s over. You’re simply saying your work here is done. Being satisfied does not mean the same thing as being content, because you can be content and not satisfied. It’s like after a meal, you say you’re satisfied; you don’t say you’re content. But what happens a few hours later? You’re hungry again.
When you are content, it does not matter what the meal is, and neither does its satisfaction. You’re at peace either way. But does that mean you don’t eat when you’re hungry?
That’s what satisfaction is. You have one meal and decide that’s enough for your entire existence. Even when you get hungry, when you can do more, you don’t go for it. You rest while the game is still going on.
I understand that there are people who can live by with little. As long as they meet their needs, they’re okay. I am like that, but there’s one thing that never changes: desire. I can be content with what I have, but it doesn’t enable stagnancy. We are all meant to grow. That is why life’s troubles never end.
If you only had to face one obstacle in life, what’s the point of living a long a one? For everyone who claims to be enough with little, do you think they would refuse more if they get it on a platter?
You guessed right, of course, no! the desire didn’t die but the will to try did. That’s what makes satisfaction different from contentment. It’s a fleeting feeling you have to quench every moment it arises. It’s not a one-time deal.
That’s why it’s over when you stop trying, not when you’re satisfied. It’s not the absence of troubles, it’s the decision to avoid them. That is exactly why your island of favorite people and everything you want can only work for a short time.
With time, you get hungry again, either that or life throws a shot your way. What’s important is that you are content but never satisfied. You’re okay with where you are or what you have, but never stop reaching for more.
Do have an amazing week! ❤️💡
