Zodiacs

One thing that makes you self-confident is the knowledge that there isn’t anyone on earth that is exactly like you. You may have an identical twin, a doppelgänger, someone who acts like you or shares the same value as you do, but they are not you and will never be. If that’s entirely valid, how did some become so accepting of zodiacs, and others never acknowledge it? If we are all so uniquely different, why do some believe it and some don’t?

It’s funny how my brain comes up with these questions on its own and not at rest until I have formed an opinion or gotten enough information to fill in the gaps. I’m writing this later than I usually would, so you’re going to have to make do with my opinion for now.

For starters, I believe in zodiac signs, and don’t cancel me yet. Hold on, I can explain. I’m a firm believer in self-love. The table where how you treat others is a direct reflection of how to treat yourself is one I’m willing to die on. If you can’t or won’t even love yourself, you simply can’t do the same for others. You might seem self-confident and perfect but still look for loopholes in everyone you meet; it doesn’t make you a perfect person, it just shows you have issues accepting your own flaws.

But that’s digression. To truly love yourself, you must understand who you are. Taking your time to learn, unlearn and relearn what makes you so unique among billions. How you mean just a statistic for some, but for others, you mean the world. Yet you have never experienced this life before. It’s your first, and it’s not like anyone provided you with a book titled YOU, which contains all you need to know, so how do you find out?

Biologically, there are two kinds of humans on earth, male and female, now there are so many other classifications that they are almost inexhaustible, like stages of life, age, race, size, geography, political party and the list goes on. Chances are you belong to the same group with at least four people you closely relate to, and no one has the time to learn about everyone. That’s why Yoruba demons are a thing.

It’s easy to group things so you can better understand and assign attributes to them. You can say a person is being naughty because he’s a child, or too emotional because she is a woman, and a heartbreaker because he is a fine Yoruba man.

If you believe in the previous three examples, my dear, you have no right to judge me. If a certain group of people could classify gender into over two, I think those who classified people according to birth month deserve a break too. What makes this fun is that most of these zodiac classifications are simply your reactions to situations. I can bet you know at least two people who will react the same way you would in a situation.

This isn’t an excuse to have an unpleasant personality by the way, it doesn’t matter what your sign is, first you’re a human who interacts with other humans.

I need to press pause here, to be continued…
