As an adult, there’s always something to do, somewhere to go, someone to see or an issue to fix. It just never ends and almost all the time you want to run away and hide from everything.
You can do that, but your problems will catch up with you and there’s a lot of them. If it’s not what to eat, it’s what to wear or constantly editing your priority list, not to mention you have to spend money for even breathing.
It’s tough, and that’s a fact, but there’s one way out, Freedom. Whatever it is you’re doing, please ensure your end goal is towards freedom, especially time and financial freedom.
If you could spend your money and time however you like, you’ve gained a level of control and have an edge in the adulthood game. But if you’re lazy like me, all the paragraphs above are just street sermons. It makes little sense because you never really pay attention.
Being lazy is kind of fun. You get to chill most of the time and think about all the things you have to do without actually doing anything. Whether you’re lazy, you still have to get things done because it doesn’t stop you from wanting a significant life for yourself.
Here are some tips that will help;
Have a routine – there’s something about repeated actions that regulates the mind. If your mind and body have to go through different actions everyday just to get started, lazying around will always be a way out of the exhaustion. Doing the same thing each morning gives you balance. Your mind and body are aware the day has begun and is ready to face it.
Music – okay, maybe this is cap but there’s something beautiful about having a day full of rhythms and sweet sounds. It’s like your day keeps flowing when music is playing and doesn’t quite stop until it’s over. If you’re into Nigerian music, please go for chill Afro music. It’s no use getting hyper when you need to work or dancing away your time.
To-do list – you have coconut head. It’s not the first time you’re hearing this, but you just won’t listen. Create that list! Even if it’s the same thing every day. What it does is that it doesn’t give room for spare time that enables laziness. Once an activity is done, your mind knows what comes next and is ready to move on.
Rest, don’t sleep – Any slight relaxation you’re already in dreamland, haba! You’re sleeping on your dreams oh and running out of time too. It’s okay to take a break during work. What’s not okay is wasting time while taking a break. Anything that helps you relax is fine. Just don’t overindulge or sleep.
Crash programs – this is my favorite part of being lazy. It makes you a genius! Not like Albert, but still in the spectrum, so that’s good. Deadlines and pressure work together to bring out the best in you. Don’t fight it, just save the one thing you want the best result for until it’s close enough to the deadline to get you pumped up. It’s amazing what your brain can come up with in so little time. (Terms and conditions apply)
Laze around – yes, you read right. If you’ve always been lazy, you won’t magically do all these things because you read you should. So, be yourself for sometime but use the reward system. If you have to do a lot of work, let your mind and body look forward to doing nothing after. There’s peace in knowing that you won’t have to do anything else after doing a lot.
Yes, you’re lazy, but you’re not Hitler and that’s a much better person to be.
Have an amazing week😃
