There’s one thing about anxiety that we all don’t know, it reveals the ugly truth, it hurts and is draining but it’ll tell you exactly what you think about a situation and how precisely it should be better. I know it’s not a great feeling and everyone wants to be less anxious about everything, but it happens, once in a while and it takes intentional effort to overcome it.
But one thing I want you to take from this feeling is that it’s telling you the truth, it’s the word that fills the space gap, it gives you the perfect picture of where you are and where you want to be. It’s hard to see anxiety beyond what it is, an ugly feeling that keeps you feeling inadequate, and there are so many ways different people deal with it.
I wouldn’t know what’s best for you, but I’ll tell you what works for me, first I put a name on the feeling, it’s not a bad thing to feel anxious, I don’t run away from it. Next I find the exact reason why, this would involve you filtering through a lot of irrelevancies, then I place a label on the reason, for example I’m anxious because I’m really broke…
The next step is the difference between point A and point B, what would make me stop being anxious? Getting more money would do that, follow it up with questions that will directly solve the problem, this will require a lot of mental energy and will even hurt more that you’re analyzing your feelings but you just have to do it.
The final questions I always ask, after I’m clear on a solution I’ll need, “Is it something I have control over or not? Is it something within my capacity or not? And finally can God do it?
See most times, we beat ourselves up over things we have no control over, things that are not within our capacity and things that are not impossible for God, because nothing is really, take it one day at a time, You got this!
